Below you can rad a little background info on this new endeavor I have taken up. You have probably seen in my tweets and such my comments about my classes. I have only done 6 but plan on making it a part of my life. It is an amazing  experience due to the torture aspect, LOL! Sitting in a room that is 105 degrees for 90 minutes is bad enough….add to that a cardio workout and there you have it. Bikram Yoga. I do not tolerate heat well nor have I ever done Yoga, So here I am doing hot yoga 4 times a week. INSANE! OK so you ask why do I go back if it is so uncomfortable? Well it is for the after effect. You have heard of runners high right? Well multiply that high by 10 add 100 and then multiply that number by 10 again and you come close to the euphoric feeling you get after cool down. I know this is going to sound so cheesy coming from me…but bear it mind it IS me saying this. Hot yoga is such an incredibly cleansing experience. You sweat out what feels like pounds of impurities and toxins and feel completely renewed. I won’t go as far as to say it is a spiritual experience, but it’s a spiritual experience, LOL! Anyhoo if you ever get the gumption to push yourself to great lengths to experience the most amazing natural high ever, try it….at least once. My guess it that many of you, like me, will become instantly addicted:)

Bikram Yoga is a system of yoga that Bikram Choudhury synthesized from traditional yoga techniques and popularized beginning in the early 1970s. Bikram’s classes run exactly 90 minutes and consist of a set series of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises. Bikram Yoga is ideally practiced in a room heated to 105°F (≈ 40.6°C) with a humidity of 40%, causing it to be categorized as a form of hot yoga.

Bikram Yoga’s goal is toward general wellness and Bikram Choudhury claims the heated studio facilitates deeper stretching and injury prevention, while reducing stress and tension. Bikram claims that his system stimulates and restores health to every muscle, joint, and organ of the body. According to Choudhury, many people only use up to 50 percent of their lung capacity and thus the lungs must be stretched in order to withstand holding more oxygen. In a 2007 interview, Choudhury stated that when one is practicing pranayama she or he will eventually be able to enhance oxygen conversion and absorption, as well as improve blood circulation, as in many other forms of cardiovascular activity.
